Peach tea bourbon mules are a delicious variation to the classic Moscow mule recipe. These Kentucky mules are made with fresh peach puree, tea, mint and lemon for a refreshing summer drink!
When I think of Moscow mules, I immediately picture an ice cold refreshing drink served in those pretty copper mugs with water dripping down the sides from the condensation.
If you've ever had a mule, you know what I'm talking about ;).
Naturally I think of summer too, since mules are just so darn refreshing, so I had to come up with a summer Moscow mule variation.
These peach tea bourbon mules are made with fresh peach puree, whiskey bourbon, a splash of lemon, fresh mint, peach tea and of course that delicious ginger beer.
Being pregnant in the summer is no fun. You sweat in all those extra creases and rolls and on top of gaining extra weight you can't drink.
...No fun but totally worth it ;).
Even though I couldn't have one of these bourbon peach mules, I did try a sip and my goodness, they're tasty. So tasty you can't even tell there's liquor in them (sorry not sorry!).
Ingredients for Peach Tea Moscow Mules:
- fresh peach puree
- whiskey bourbon (good quality!)
- peach tea
- ginger beer
- mint for garnish
The fresh peach puree is the star of this drink recipe.
You want to make sure you're using very ripe peaches that are almost too mushy to eat. Anything too firm won't give you that peach flavor and won't liquify into a nice puree.
Also, you want to be sure to use a good quality bourbon. Jim beam, Makers Mark or Knob Creek are some of my favorites.
I like using peach flavored tea, however you could also substitute plain tea with a splash of peach schnapps.
If your peach tea is unsweetened, feel free to add a little honey or agave nectar and adjust according to taste.
How to make Kentucky peach tea mules:
- Make your peach puree by adding your peeled peach slices to a food processor and process until smooth.
- Add peach puree to a large pitcher along with bourbon, peach tea and lemon juice. Stir until combined.
- Add ice to four copper mugs. Pour ¾ cup of the peach bourbon drink into the cup and top with ginger beer.
- Garnish with fresh mint, lemon and peach slices if desired.
Do you have to use copper mugs for Moscow mules?
You don't need the copper mugs to enjoy these peach tea bourbon mules.
However, I do highly recommend the copper mugs because aside from being the key component to the drink, they keep the cocktail super cold which is great especially in the summer!
Difference between a Moscow Mule and Kentucky Mule?
The only difference between a Moscow and Kentucky mule is that a Moscow mule uses vodka and a Kentucky mule uses (Kentucky) bourbon whiskey.
You could certainly make these peach tea mules with vodka if you prefer. I just love bourbon and I think it goes great with the peach and ginger :).
Can you make a Moscow mule with ginger ale?
If you don't have ginger beer, you could make these mules with ginger ale.
They won't have that strong classic ginger taste that you get from the ginger beer so you can add a little fresh ginger if you'd like.

- fresh mint, for garnish
- peach & lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
- Combine peach puree, bourbon, peach tea and lemon juice in a large pitcher. Stir to combine.

- Top with ginger beer and garnish with mint, peach and lemon slices.
- Serve and enjoy!
*To make the peach puree: peel and slice peach around the pit. Add to food processor and combine until smooth.
*Be sure to use very ripe peaches. Anything too firm will not yield enough juice to liquify into a puree. You can always boil your peach slices before pureeing them if they are not soft enough.
*Good quality bourbon like Maker's Mark or Jim Beam should be used in this recipe.
