As if apple butter wasn’t yummy enough, this pumpkin butter is smooth and velvety making it the perfect sidekick for fall dishes.

This easy pumpkin butter recipe from scratch is made on the stove top and can be used for canning, on baked goods, on appetizers or in savory dishes!

I don’t think it’s officially Fall in my house until I make some homemade pumpkin or apple butter.  It’s super easy to make can be used with so many things.  It’s perfectly silky smooth and has all the wonderful flavors of fall.

So, what to do with your homemade pumpkin butter?

Pumpkin Butter Uses:

  • Spread on baked goods (muffins, pound cake, coffee cake, etc)
  • Filling in cakes or cupcakes
  • Brushed on chicken or pork
  • Jarred and given as a homemade gift
  • Bake Brie
    (…and the list goes on and on!)

Pumpkin Butter will last in a airtight container or sealed jar for up to two months.

You can freeze pumpkin butter for up to one year in a zip lock freezer bag or a food safe airtight storage container.

Easy 30 Minute Homemade Pumpkin Butter

Ingredients

  • 29 oz can Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 cup Apple cider or 100% Apple juice
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 cup Light brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup/Agave
  • 1 tbsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Allspice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium size saucepan and whisk to combine.
  2. Heat over medium heat until it starts to bubble.
  3. Turn down to low, and continue cooking for another 25 minutes, whisking frequently.
  4. Remove from heat and store in mason jars or airtight heat safe storage containers.

Recipe Notes

*Pumpkin Butter will last up to two months in refrigerator in a airtight jar or container or for up to a year in freezer.

*Replace the lemon juice with 1-2 TBS of Bourbon and 1 tsp of orange zest for a Bourbon Pumpkin Butter Variation!
